I’m trying to be a better person in 2012, and basically that boils down to earning some badges on the adult portion of my life sash**. I’m pretty against the whole idea of “becoming an adult” because I feel like this overwhelming need for all of us to “grow up” and for others to tell people about being a “grown up” is bullshit. I do believe that everyone at one point needs to do it but come on fuckers stop trying to actively seek out “growing up” because basically as it boils down to it you’re all doing it wrong.
Really, are our lives so void of measurable goals that as a generation we’ve all decided to pick a very big and lofty one and achieve “GROWN UP STATUS”? Good luck, God bless, and tell me how that goes. This is a fucking process guys. It’s a process that isn’t just going to be “make new, friends keep the old, find god, and pay your bills” although three out of four isn’t bad at all.
Why the rush to speed up the process into adulthood? My god that sounds so fucking boring.
Play your own hand. I believe in being better and personal growth. If being better is you taking care of yourself and not continuing to take out the trash (8 days and 5 bags too late) full of empty wine bottles and take out containers, then, have at it. Don’t do it because you’re trying to earn your badges into adulthood; you’ll just be a fucked up child who understands the importance of doing your dishes before you pass out.
